Welcome! We are Amy Riedel (chiropractor) and Mandy Smythe (osteopath).
We are Master’s trained, AHPRA registered, allied health professionals who work in a group practice in Sydney, Australia.
Our aim for this site is to share our collective knowledge and experience with pregnancy-related complaints. We want to help you understand what is going on with your body during pregnancy and what can be done to help you; from pre-conception through pregnancy, labour, delivery and post-partum.
Amy developed a love for working with pregnant women while at university and since then, has mastered her skills and understanding of what is going on during pregnancy that contributes to pain and dysfunction. “A lovely thing about working with pregnant women is that they tend to respond really well to manual therapy, so I know I can make a big difference to how they (you!) are feeling.” Amy graduated from Macquarie University seven years ago and has been working with osteopaths and physiotherapists since she was a student. “Working with these other health professionals has shown me that there are many different ways in which to help people and every patient is different – so there is no one size fits all model. I have pulled the best bits from these different professions, as well as drawing on my own experiences as a mum of two, to create my own unique treatment style which I think works pretty damn well!
Mandy grew up and trained as an osteopath in New Zealand before moving to Sydney after graduating almost five years ago. “I was fortunate to get the opportunity to work alongside a group of experienced and collaborative healthcare practitioners at Central Sydney Osteopathy. During my time working here my interest and skills in treating pregnant and post-partum women really grew. Amy and I have seen wonderful results working with these patients and we decided it was time to share some of our knowledge. It’s so rewarding being able to help relieve pain for women during their pregnancies and work with them towards a more comfortable delivery and post-partum period.”
